Tiffany: When did you start your business?
Darrell: 2006
Tiffany: Why did you get started in this business?
Darrell: Well, we actually had an incident that happened in our house, it was broken into. We ended up going to a seminar and purchased some websites and we weren’t really sure what products to put into the websites. One thing just led to another and with that incident happening and the websites we decided to load security products on the websites and here we are four years later!
Tiffany: What were some of the obstacles you had to face and how did you overcome those obstacles?
Darrell: One of the big obstacles that we have had to overcome are the people that call you and say that they can place your website on the first page of Google. That was one of our big challenges. We fell into that trap, I’m sure I’m not the only one.
Another obstacle is just understanding the SEO and the theory behind it and how you optimize your website. Truthfully, when we got our websites we didn’t know anything about html or websites we were just looking for something to supplement our income. We thought it would be an easy way to supplement our income. Little did we know not so easy but with Mike’s help it has become an easy task now.
The information that Mike provides is priceless, its unbelievable, from point A: where we were and now, its just leaps and bounds are just astronomical and I owe a big kudos to Mike for that because his information is, like I said priceless.
He always seems to be in the middle of what the trends are and what’s going on. Definitely very helpful!
Tiffany: How has this business changed your life?
Darrell: One thing, we actually have a business now, where before we didn’t. Its opened up some new horizons for us like business tax deductions and just the whole idea behind running a business and making decisions, its just really opened up some new doors for us.
Tiffany: What advice would you give to someone else starting a business?
Darrell: If somebody calls you and tells you that they are going to put you on the first page of Google, run, run for your life. Don’t believe them anybody can put you on the first page of Google but they make it so your getting sales. So run for your life that is the best advice I can give you.
Tiffany: What methods do you use for advertising?
Darrell: Defiantly use a lot of the organic, try to be on the first page of Google with the organic searches. Magazine advertising, which we are on the fence about. We are thinking about dropping that advertising and putting our funds elsewhere. I’m starting to get into the radio podcasting advertising, not sure if that’s going to work out or not. I also do a lot of local advertising around the area such as knife shows and homes shows to get our products out there.
Tiffany: What’s your favorite product?
Darrell: Wow, they all have there own benefit…..so many categories. My favorite one would have to be the Taser C2, its an awesome
product. I have good luck selling it plus it’s a cool item.
Tiffany: What is the craziest story that a customer has told you?
Darrell: The people we come in contact with aren’t really crazy. The stories we get are testimonials of things that have happened to them or a friend. Then we advise them of products would help them avoid situations like that.
Tiffany: Can you give me one of your internet marketing secrets?
Darrell: I’m thinking they should know about it because Mike has talked about. But I’m not seeing a lot of it going on. The circle type advertising where you basically create different silos. Makes Google crawl your site quicker because its all related.
If you have a stun gun page then you link another page that is related then you link that page to another page that is related. It all starts from the home page and it all links in that one silo for stun guns so it follows that whole linking stage. So it makes it very easy for crawlers to go to your site. Since, I’ve been doing that it has worked phenomenally.
